Streetwear Exhibition
"STREETWEAR"
HYPEPEACE was recently invited to be in the 'Streetwear' exhibit at Modemuseum, Belgium, as part of the acclaimed expo ‘Activewear’.
Curator Dominique Nzeyimana pinpoints the influence of communities of colour and Black-owned and POC-founded brands.
“Streetwear has been influencing high fashion and everything around it since the early ‘80s and even if you are not a streetwear fan yourself, you can’t but have noticed that it has since become inevitable."
Curator Dominique Nzeyimana
Curator Dominique Nzeyimana is a fashion and culture journalist, author and podcast host. She started her career at the studios of MTV Europe and Belgium where she worked her way up from intern to senior producer.
What is Activewear? Sportswear or activewear is clothing, including footwear, worn for sport or physical exercise. Sport-specific clothing is worn for most sports and physical exercise, for practical, comfort or safety reasons.
The exhibit included Q&A with guest Guillaume “Gee” Schmidt of Patta, Elodie Ouedraogo & Olivia Borlée - Olympic medalists and founders of Unrun4254.
HYPEPEACE meeting “Gee” of Patta.
Dominique also interviewed “Gee” on her podcast The Most - Episode 41.
Guillaume retells the full story from early influences to building a love-for-all community and global phenomenon from the ground up. For all who aspire to connect, inspire, give back: this is the blueprint - go take a listen.
Many thanks to Dominique and The Knotoryus team for making this all happen.
